Adventure Is Out There!

Hey everyone! I know I promised I would be better about posting, but life and all of its exciting adventures kind of got in the way for a bit! However, I just went on a wonderful trip to Utah this past weekend, and I couldn't not blog about it.

I went up for my bestie Stephanie's birthday, and to experience Fall in all its glory since we don't exactly have real seasons in California. Never thought I would get tired of sunshine all the time!

There are so many things I ADORE about Utah, but the best thing has to be all of the adventure locations! While I was there, I of course had to take a little journey to my favorite adventure spot of all time- the Alpine Loop! For those of you who have never been there before, it's this beautiful, winding road up the Provo canyon, just past Sundance Resort.

Love this action shot my photographer got of me on my adventure!

I love the outdoors, so when I lived in Provo, I tried to be outside as much as possible. And I don't know about you, but nothing says "adventure" like going for a drive up a canyon!

For my adventuring outfit, I chose something that would be cute but also functional. You guys know how much I love functional outfits ;) The floral, babydoll-style dress gave me a feminine flair, and the boots really pulled the outfit together for a total autumn look. Not only that, but they made it so easy to walk around and climb on that log! My poor photographer was wearing flip flops...yikes! (Note to readers: flip flops are NOT good adventure footwear...unless you're adventuring at the beach!)

I know what you're thinking... "Floral?! What happened to Heather's signature neutral colors style?!" A little advice for my wonderful readers: sometimes, you have to be a little crazy and go outside your comfort zone. Take risks and be bold! :)

My adventure look would not have been complete without my absolute FAVORITE accessory- sunnies!

I loved how the brown of my boots complemented the brown in my sunnies.

And last but certainly not least, we can't forget about the hair! As you all know, I love the top knot. I am constantly talking about it in my posts! But this time I wanted to go with something a little different, because isn't that what adventure is all about?! I decided to try the half-up, half-down top knot this time, which I think really added to the overall feel of this look.

Well, that's all I have for today everyone! I hope this post inspired you to go on your own adventures! Can't wait to tell you all about my next one...maybe I'll try out a different canyon drive this time! ;)

Fun with Fitness

Hey everyone! I am SO sorry it has been so long since my last post! I was lucky enough to be hired at my dream job (about which I have zero complaints), so life has just been absolutely crazy! But never fear, this working girl has been brainstorming outfit and post ideas so there will be much more coming your way soon!

For today's post, I wanted to talk about my favorite subject...fitness! I know what you're thinking, "Ugh, Heather, working out is such a drag!" But that's where you're wrong, my dear readers. Yes, if you put all of your focus into your work out, it can be a total bummer. Focus on your outfit, however, and all of a sudden working out becomes the best part of your day!

When it is as warm as it has been here in sunny Cali, this is my go-to outfit for exercising. The shorts are my favorite pair, because they are classic black, which goes with everything. Personally, I like to pair them with white tank tops like the one I'm sporting (pun intended!), because I am ALL about neutral colors. You can't really tell, but even my sports bra is neutral- gray! The one thing I do love to have some color on is my shoes. The little pop of peach on my Nikes is just what I need to make this outfit fun!

Can't forget the hairstyle! I am rocking the top knot once again, because it's cute, it keeps my hair out of my face while I'm working out, and it means I don't have to wash my hair. Score!

The BEST part about this outfit is its versatility. And if you guys read my last post, you know I am all about versatility in my outfits! This one is great for a number of different activities, such as the following:

Tennis!

Walking your dog!

Biking!

And SO much more!

Now, I don't actually do any of those activities. But I do want to share with you the exercises I do and a week-long look at what my diet looks like. Because even if you have an obviously perfect bod like mine, it's important to be healthy and exercise!

I really try to just focus on basic cardio, which really consists of me going up and down the stairs throughout the day. Say I forgot something upstairs, or I want to stop watching TV in the living room and want to switch to my TV in my bedroom. It is SUCH a great work out! I have demonstrated the moves for you below, so you can try at home!

Step 1: Stand at the bottom of the stairs.

Step 2: Go up the stairs one at a time.

Step 3: Go down the stairs one at a time.

...and done!

A few reps of that a day, and I am feeling the burn!

Now a look at my meals in a typical week:

As you can see, I stick to a strict and structured diet plan. This is important when you are trying to maintain your current physique. Don't try to switch it up from day-to-day, just stick with what you know and what feels good for your body!

Well, I think I have now given away ALL of my secrets, but you guys are totally worth it. I wouldn't be anything without you readers! Stay tuned for my next post, coming soon! And remember, fitness is FUN!

A Day in the Life

For my first post, I thought it would be appropriate to show you just an everyday outfit for me. I love this one because it is comfy, and so functional! Whether I'm sitting in my bed on my laptop, or sitting in my bed watching TV, it is perfect for any activity.

I chose to go with pajama shorts because they are cute but comfortable, but any shorts would work for this look. I went with a zip up hoodie for its functionality but also its versatility. You can leave it zipped up, like I did here, or unzip it for a totally different look! Under the jacket, I just have a black tank top on. Black is a classic color, so I thought it would tie the outfit together nicely.

The BEST part about pairing a hoodie with any outfit? No bra, no problem! You heard me, the sweatshirt is thick enough and loose enough to cover up "the girls" so no one has to know! That's my favorite fashion secret ;)

Sometimes, you have to leave the house. Brutal, I know. But the good news is, you totally don't have to change your outfit! I have another fashion secret for you guys that I've been using for years...glasses! If you normally need glasses or not, it doesn't really matter. I bought mine for $8 at Claire's. SUCH a steal! The trick is to not wear the glasses as often as possible. That way, when you have to go out of the house but don't wanna change out of your comfy outfit, you just throw on some glasses!

Go from looking lazy...

...to smart! In just a quick second, you look like you just had to leave the house in a hurry, and didn't even have time to put contacts in! No one will have to know that you just didn't want to change. Works every time.

An outfit is never complete without the hairstyle, and my favorite is the super popular top knot. It is super cute, but also allows me the freedom to not style my hair, or even wash it, for days! (Maybe I'll do a tutorial for you guys later... stay tuned!)

That's all I've got for today guys, keep checking back to stay up to date with all of my upcoming posts!
